Building Hope on a Firm Foundation
In April 2012 Brother Bill's Helping Hand took a giant step towards better serving our neighbors in West Dallas.  We moved into our new building at 3906 N. Westmoreland (Dallas, TX 75212).  We praise God for our new home and all that it will mean to the community we serve.

In February 2009 BBHH bought property at 3906 N. Westmoreland, the southeast corner of Westmoreland at Angelina. The new Community Center sits on one acre in the heart of a neighborhood identified as being at great risk.  BBHH’s new home means better foot, bus, and automobile access for our neighbors resulting in an anticipated growth in the number of households served on a yearly basis.

The BBHH Board of Trustees and Capital Campaign Committee began a $3.2 million capital campaign in October 2009.  Our needs were great, but we felt confident that caring people would step forward to give beyond what they may have thought possible in order to partner with us in better serving men, women, and children in West Dallas. In August 2011 we began construction on the new debt-free home!

The new building is so much more than just added space in a new facility.  Already it shines like a beacon of hope in our community as more people become involved in education and training programs.  The Essentials of Life programs bring food to the tables of an ever-growing number of families.  Our Community Clinic provides quality health care to an even larger population.  The building stands as a constant reminder to all who see it of caring people who made it possible.

VitalSign6...A Study on Depression

The end of May BBHH was asked to participate in a UTSW meeting with several Austin representatives from Texas Health & Human Services. UTSW was updating them on the progress of their VitalSign6 study on depression which is being funded by THHS. Since we were the first site to implement this program, UTSW wanted to have the meeting at BBHH, and for us to share our thoughts about this important opportunity and how it affects those we serve. Partnerships like the one we have with UTSW mean expanded services and quality care for our neighbors. We praise God for all our "partners in service", and for the gifts they bring to our community.

To God be the Glory
